9 Lifestyle and Home Remedies to Combat Swine Flu

Does the swine flu have you worried? There are some easy steps that can be taken to avoid getting it, and combat it if you are already battling it. It is not easy to do all of these things at once, and you may find that a certain combination works well for you. Whatever the case may be, stay consistent and cautious.

Natural Solutions to Help Fight Swine Flu
1. Tulsi (Basil)

Have 5 thoroughly washed leaves every morning. Tulsi has many therapeutic properties, and it keeps the lungs and throat clear while helping to fight infection through strengthening the immune system.

2. Giloi

This plant is available in many areas, and sometimes goes by the medicinal name of Tinospora cordifolia. Use a 1 foot long branch of the plant, and add in 5 or 6 leaves of Tulsi and boil for 15 to 30 minutes, long enough for the water to extract the properties. Add in black pepper and sendha, black salt, or Misri to taste. Let this cool and then drink while still warm. It works magically with the immune system. If the plant is not available, you may purchase giloi powder from a health food store.

3. Camphor

A piece the size of a tablet should be taken 1 to 2 times a month. Swallow this with water or mix into food if an aid is needed. It is never to be taken every day, just once each season, or once a month at most.

4. Garlic

Take 2 pods of raw garlic in the morning daily with lukewarm water. Taking garlic like this will help to strengthen the immune system.

5. Aloe Vera

This plant is commonly available, and is a cactus-like plant with thick, long leaves that are full of an odorless gel. Take a teaspoon of this gel daily with water and immunity will be boosted while skin and joints will see benefits as well.

6. Homeopathic Options

Pyrogenium 200 and Inflenzium 200 can work to prevent the swine flu virus. This should be taken in 5 tablets 3 times a day, or 2 to 3 drops three times a day.

7. Practice Pranayam

These breathing exercises can be done in conjunction with a morning walk or jog, and can keep the lungs and throat in good condition. Even when done only in small amounts, it will help the body to resist diseases that attack the lungs, throat, and nose, besides keeping you fit and healthy.

8. Citrus Fruits

Consume these, especially those that are high in Vitamin C, like Indian gooseberry juice (Amla). Many times, it is not available fresh, so packaged Amla juice is fine.

9. Wash Your Hands

Wash them frequently and with soap plus warm water. Washing should be 15 to 20 seconds, done thoroughly before meals or after touching a surface that could be contaminated with any number of germs, like a door handle or any public spaces. Keep a waterless, alcohol-based cleaner with you at all times, and use it when soap and warm water is not available.
