Everyone experiences stress in their daily lives. Stress being normal does not mean that it’s welcome. No one wants to put up with the stress of life in any fashion. Taking stress from being a big part of your day to a little one is all a matter of effort and some personality. Here are some wonderful ways to deal with stress.
To reduce stress, try buying some spearmint oil. Dab a bit on your neck and temples when you feel stressed. It is amazing how the small things can do wonders for stress levels, so give them a try.
Notice the muscles or areas that tense up when you feel anxiety or stress. In particular you may notice it in your hands, jaw and shoulders. Take a nice hot bath to reduce your stress levels. A hot bath not only relieves stress but also relieves any aches and pains. If you don’t have the time it takes to soak in the bath you can always just wash your face with hot water and imagine you’re in the tub instead.
Gain hold of yourself by focusing on deep, controlled breathing during stressful situations. Take a step back and count from one to ten, while taking some deep breaths, and then rejoin the situation. Doing this can help turn a stressful moment where you may react badly to one where you feel calmer and in control.
Become stress-free by sniffing things. There are certain aromas that have been proven to calm the nerves including lavender, rose, and peppermint. Fill a small screw-top vial with a pinch of mineral salt, and a drop or two of your favorite fragrant oil. When you are feeling stressed, open the vial and take a whiff.
Write down your feelings when you feel stressed. There are times when we are uncomfortable discussing a stressful situation with another person. In these cases, writing down your feelings in a journal can help to alleviate that helpless feeling. Archive these writings and look over them later to see if there are any patterns in how you dealt with the stressful situations.
Take yourself out of the equation. Think calm thoughts and affirm your ability to handle the situation well, and you will give yourself a good chance of doing just that.
Sometimes, when you are on the go, you may be moving or thinking too fast. It’s very important that you slow yourself down, take a breath, and put things into proper perspective. Don’t let yourself get rushed throughout the day, especially later on in the day to reduce the amount of anxiety and stress that you feel.
