Myth: Canned foods have less BPA than water bottles and baby bottles.
Fact: Tests show that canned foods have higher BPA amounts than water bottles. Note that BPA levels in water bottles increases when they’re heated.
Myth: BPA from cans is neutralized in the body and it cannot hurt your health.
Fact: Several studies show that BPA from cans can ruin your health. Studies have linked it to miscarriages, infertility, heart disease, and obesity.
Myth: Exposure to low amounts of BPA doesn’t have negative effects.
Fact: Exposure to low amounts of BPA can cause hormonal imbalances. And the risks are higher for kids.
Additionally, most people are exposed to this chemical more than once. So those small amounts will have serious effects in the long run. Even though researchers have not identified any effects of low doses of BPA, they suspect it may hurt you in years to come.
Myth: It’s impossible to avoid BPA since the alternatives are pricey.
