Relate the new information to something you know already. If you’d like a better memory, try to purge negative thoughts from your mind. Research clearly shows that high stress levels are detrimental to memory retention. Negative thoughts have also been shown to interfere with the memory building processes of the brain. Ask your doctor to recommend some exercises you can do to lower your stress level.

Don’t overload yourself with too much information at one time. You can even make up your own unique methods of remembering things, like study sessions. You should never try to learn something all during one study session. This tactic will make your mind feel overwhelmed, and you will retain very little of the actual information. Make sure you have regular study segments to ensure that your brain can remember things.

When studying, you can improve memory retention simply by moving to different surroundings while you continue to study. Your long-term memory can benefit from you studying in a completely new area. Your brain tends to wake up as it detects changes in your routine, and once this happens, your brain could take a lot more information.
