Get yourself a pet. Pet ownership has been used successfully to relieve the symptoms of many illnesses. You could also learn many life skills from a pet; pets always live in the present. Having pets can help you relax and lower your stress to a manageable level.

Try to visualize being calm when you feel overwhelmed and stress. Try imagining yourself as a scoop of melting ice cream under the hot sun, or lying in a hot bath while your stresses wash down the drain. You can also increase peaceful feelings by learning deep breathing techniques and focused meditation.
