Strategies On How To Manage Anxiety The Right Way

Set aside a certain time to think about your worries. Police yourself so that you don’t focus on your problems until it is time to do so. Then set aside an hour to deal with any issues. When your time is over, do not let yourself focus on worries. This approach will give you proper structure, and control your thoughts.

Change your brain chemicals through exercise. While low serotonin can be a trigger for anxiety, getting regular exercise can get your serotonin levels where they need to be. Exercising–anything from taking a walk to pumping iron at the gym–causes your body to produce more feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine. Not only do you reduce anxiety, but you diminish feelings of depression as well.

Make sure you are laughing as much as possible. Laughing is a great way to be happy and that can reduce anxiety. Spend time with witty friends, watch some TV comedies, or just read a hilarious book or story. You will decrease anxiety the more you laugh.

Don’t spend too much of your day sitting. If you must sit at your job, get up and move your body during breaks. Stand up every so often. When you are around the house, limit the time you spend in front of the TV and take a brisk walk. Yes, you need to sit and relax sometimes; however, too much of this can be a direct link to increasing anxiety.

Stay as far away from nerve-racking and depressing people as possible, as they will only cause your anxiety to worsen. Surround yourself with upbeat people so that you’ll become upbeat too, and you’ll soon see your issues from a new perspective.

Tell someone that you trust your biggest fear and make sure that you exaggerate it when you tell it to them. By making your fear sound ridiculous, you will see how silly and unfounded it may really be.

Practice techniques that help with deep breathing. When anxiety becomes especially intense, the tendency is to hyperventilate, breathing rapidly and shallowly. Instead, you should breathe deeply, from the diaphragm. Breathing deeply will lower your anxiety.
