There are many stereotypes and myths about growing older, mostly about not being able to see or hear. But the truth is, people today are aging more gracefully and leading vibrant and fun-filled lives. Keep these tips in mind and continue to enjoy life just as you always have.
Do not spend an excessive amount of time worrying about how old you are. Your chronological age is just a number. Your state of mind and physical condition are way more important. You’re only old if you feel old. You can be 80, but you may have the mind and health of a person much younger. The most important thing is not to let your age rule your life.
If you are worried about aging, stop focusing on the numbers in your life. It is easy to drive yourself to distraction focusing on all your numbers: your age, your height and your weight. You will still need some numbers for medical reasons but you should not weight yourself down every day.
Take part in fun activities you enjoy – safely. Maintaining a positive attitude and staying physically active will help you to retain a youthful outlook.
Be proud of any gray hair you may have; just remember to adjust your makeup accordingly. Gray hair will give off a more pale appearance so you will probably want to alter your makeup. Rose or peach tones will help to warm up your lips and cheeks, but balance this with a makeup base in a slightly darker tone then your usual base. Add definition to your eyebrows with a brow pencil, and use a yellow-based concealer under eye shadow. When you use the right makeup, you can make your hair look amazing, and still look younger.
Taking care of your skin is especially vital as you age. When you’re younger, you need to remember to protect your skin from UV rays because they are harmful. The longer you are in the sun, the faster it will cause wrinkles and skin cancer.
Don’t dwell on unimportant numbers in your life. You pay doctors good money to worry about things like your age, height and weight. If you think about your age or other numbers you will skip out on the enjoyment of life.
When you age, you often do not want to leave the home because it is safe. Make your space your own; it will make it more comforting to come home to after a bad day. This will enable you to rest easy no matter what the day’s challenges were.
Make sure you eat healthy foods. Avoid fat and sugar while eating plenty of fruits and veggies for a balanced diet. A healthy diet can help you maintain both your physical and mental health, as well as give you the proper fuel you need to get through your day.
A simple way to keep you growing older gracefully, is to keep your hormone levels stable. Depletion of endurance, energy, and sexuality can be the result of diminishing hormones in your system, which happens as you age. It may be a good idea for you to discuss hormone replacement therapy with your physician and see if that is a good option for you.
You still can live your life to it’s fullest potential. If you take control of your life and diet, the next fifty years could be great.
