Everyone gets older, but not everyone has to feel or look old. There are ups and downs when attempting to remain youthful, however, the path to longevity does not have to be paved with problems. If you put these techniques to use, you can increase the number of years that you stay healthy.
Do not let your mind focus on numbers. Your doctor is watching those numbers like a hawk and will alert you if something is off. If you worry that you are 84 years old, weigh 10 more pounds than you did last year, and that have lost an inch of height, you won’t have any time to keep yourself useful by doing fun activities.
The most important aspects of aging well is your diet. Eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of fiber, fruits and vegetables, lean sources of protein and healthy, unsaturated fats. Avoid processed food that is low in nutritional value which often speeds up the process of getting older.
If you make better dietary choices, you can fight the growing older process. Your body needs even more nutrients as you age, so be sure to pursue a diet full of healthy fruits and vegetables, lean meats and whole grains. Try to have a few small meals throughout the day instead of three large meals. Pair these up with a few healthy snacks as well.
Try to spread cheer wherever you go. Making others feel great and happy is going to, in turn, make you feel wonderful. Happiness is free, yet priceless. Share it whenever possible.
Take anti-oxidants or eat foods that contain it often. Research shows that antioxidants neutralize free radicals that can wreak havoc in the body. Fruits and vegetables that are darker in color have the most antioxidants. These include spinach, blackberries, and tomatoes.
When your hair begins to gray, make the most of it by enhancing it using proper makeup. Gray hair can alter how your complexion appears, and you should alter your makeup accordingly. Use a blush and makeup base in a shade darker than you are used to, and use shades of rose or peach on the lips. These techniques will add warmth to the skin. Use a brow pencil to add eyebrow definition, and under eye shadow, use a concealer with a yellow tint. The correct makeup will make your gray hair look beautiful, and you will even look younger than you are.
Growing Older may cause a decrease in a person’s sex drive. If you are an older woman who no longer has interest in sex, you may wish to see a doctor. It could be possible that a few hormone supplements will revamp your libido and spice up your marriage again.
Smoking will make your skin age much faster. The act of smoking leaves wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth and ages a person prematurely. Cigarettes are not only dangerous to your body, but will also make you age significantly faster than a non-smoker.
Check your blood pressure on a regular basis. High blood pressure can be called ‘the silent killer’ because it is possible to have high blood pressure but not have any symptoms. As you age, your cardiovascular system will unfortunately start to deteriorate, and closely monitoring your blood pressure becomes even more important. This way, when there’s a problem, you’ll be able to address it in a timely manner.
As you can tell, getting older isn’t that bad. You can live vibrantly and active if you take care of your body. Seek out different opportunities to test these ideas and improve your life.
